Mirzapur Worldwide Box Office: The Movie Crosses ₹300 Crore in 17 Days, Reaches ₹308.84 Crore

Mirzapur: The Movie has crossed ₹300 crore at the worldwide box office within 17 days of its theatrical release, taking its reported global gross to ₹308.84 crore by Sunday, September 20, 2026. The theatrical extension of the Mirzapur crime franchise has collected ₹215.70 crore net in India, ₹256.84 crore gross in India, and ₹52 crore overseas. The milestone matters because Mirzapur began as a streaming series and has now converted an established digital audience into a large-scale theatrical business across India and international markets.

The film released theatrically on September 4, 2026, in Hindi and Telugu. Gurmmeet Singh directed the film, Puneet Krishna wrote it, and Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar produced it. Pankaj Tripathi, Ali Fazal and Divyenndu returned as Kaleen Bhaiya, Guddu Pandit and Munna Tripathi, supported by an ensemble that includes Jitendra Kumar, Ravi Kishan, Abhishek Banerjee, Rasika Dugal, Shweta Tripathi and several returning Mirzapur characters.

Quick Facts About Mirzapur: The Movie Box Office

The Day 17 numbers place Mirzapur: The Movie among the biggest Hindi theatrical releases of 2026 and show how much of its total has come from the domestic market.

  • Worldwide gross after 17 days: ₹308.84 crore
  • India net collection: ₹215.70 crore
  • India gross collection: ₹256.84 crore
  • Overseas gross: ₹52 crore
  • Day 17 India net: ₹5 crore
  • Day 16 India net: ₹4.50 crore
  • Day 17 growth over Saturday: 11.1 percent
  • Theatrical release date: September 4, 2026
  • Languages: Hindi and Telugu
  • Director: Gurmmeet Singh
  • Writer: Puneet Krishna
  • Producers: Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar

India accounts for about 83 percent of the reported worldwide gross, while overseas markets contribute roughly 17 percent. The split confirms that the domestic theatrical audience remains the main commercial base of the film, even though the ₹52 crore overseas total has become a meaningful part of the worldwide result.

Mirzapur: The Movie Reaches ₹308.84 Crore Worldwide on Day 17

The ₹300 crore milestone was confirmed during the film's third weekend. Mirzapur: The Movie earned ₹5 crore net in India on Day 17, lifting its India net total to ₹215.70 crore and India gross to ₹256.84 crore. Overseas collections stood at ₹52 crore, producing a combined worldwide gross of ₹308.84 crore.

The Sunday performance also represented an improvement over Saturday. Day 16 generated ₹4.50 crore net in India, while Day 17 rose to ₹5 crore. That works out to an 11.1 percent day-on-day increase. The film played across 4,402 shows on Day 17 according to the reported theatrical data.

The numbers are significant because ₹300 crore refers to worldwide gross, not India net revenue. Box-office discussions often mix these metrics, which can create misleading comparisons.

The current collection can be separated into three figures:

  • ₹215.70 crore represents reported India net ticket revenue after applicable entertainment taxes.
  • ₹256.84 crore represents the corresponding India gross.
  • ₹52 crore represents overseas gross receipts.

Adding India gross and overseas gross gives the reported worldwide gross of ₹308.84 crore.

The ₹300 crore figure therefore should not be compared directly with another film's India net collection. Worldwide gross must be compared with worldwide gross for a like-for-like box-office comparison.

How Mirzapur Built Its ₹300 Crore Run in 17 Days

Mirzapur: The Movie did most of its domestic business during its opening week, but the second week and third weekend supplied enough additional revenue to push the worldwide total beyond ₹300 crore.

The film opened with ₹25.75 crore net in India on Friday, September 4. Saturday increased to ₹32 crore, followed by ₹36 crore on Sunday. The first three days therefore produced approximately ₹93.75 crore net domestically.

The opening weekend represented more than 63 percent of the film's eventual first-week India net total. That front-loaded pattern is common for franchise films with high pre-release awareness because fans often watch during the first few days.

Monday was the first major test. Mirzapur: The Movie collected ₹16 crore net on Day 4. Tuesday followed with ₹15.60 crore, Wednesday with ₹12.55 crore and Thursday with ₹10.55 crore. The complete first week finished at ₹148.45 crore net in India.

The second Friday added ₹9.50 crore. The film then rose to ₹13.50 crore on its second Saturday and ₹13.25 crore on Sunday. Weekday business slowed, with ₹5.50 crore on Monday, ₹5.50 crore on Tuesday, ₹3.75 crore on Wednesday and ₹4 crore on Thursday.

The second week contributed another ₹55 crore net, taking the cumulative India net figure to ₹203.45 crore before the third weekend began.

The third weekend remained useful even after the large opening-period business had passed.

September 18 brought ₹2.75 crore net. September 19 increased to ₹4.50 crore. September 20 rose again to ₹5 crore. The third weekend therefore contributed ₹12.25 crore net, taking the India net total to ₹215.70 crore after 17 days.

The progression matters more than any single day's figure. Mirzapur started with a large franchise-driven opening, crossed ₹200 crore India net during its second week, then used third-weekend growth to move beyond ₹300 crore worldwide.

The Domestic Market Has Generated Most of Mirzapur's Revenue

India remains the main source of Mirzapur: The Movie's theatrical revenue. Of the reported ₹308.84 crore worldwide gross, ₹256.84 crore comes from India and ₹52 crore comes from overseas markets.

That means approximately 83.2 percent of worldwide gross has come from India, with about 16.8 percent from overseas territories.

The ratio is useful when assessing the film's commercial profile. Mirzapur is not a film whose worldwide number has been driven mainly by a very large international contribution. Its global total rests primarily on domestic demand.

Early reporting also identified particularly strong response from mass centres in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. The geographic connection makes sense at a franchise level because Mirzapur's story, language, characters and fictional power struggle are closely associated with eastern Uttar Pradesh. Still, the theatrical result extends far beyond a single regional market.

Day 17 regional occupancy showed continued audience activity across several large centres. Reported Hindi 2D occupancy stood at 32.80 percent overall. Bengaluru recorded 39 percent overall occupancy, Jaipur 37.8 percent, Lucknow 32 percent, Chandigarh 31.5 percent, Mumbai 29.8 percent and the National Capital Region 29.3 percent.

Those numbers should be interpreted carefully. Occupancy percentages depend on show count, theatre capacity, location and timing. A market with fewer screenings can record a high percentage without generating more revenue than a city operating hundreds of shows.

Overseas Collections Reach ₹52 Crore

Mirzapur: The Movie has collected ₹52 crore gross outside India after 17 days, giving international markets a meaningful role in pushing the film beyond ₹300 crore worldwide. Day 17 alone added a reported ₹75 lakh from overseas territories.

Earlier reporting indicated that international business grew after a relatively slower start, with North America and the Middle East among the markets contributing to the overseas run.

The overseas figure is especially relevant for a story closely associated with a specific Indian city and Hindi heartland crime culture. Mirzapur's international theatrical business indicates that familiarity with its characters exists among audiences outside India as well.

A September 20 report also placed Mirzapur: The Movie among the three highest-grossing Hindi films overseas in 2026 at that point.

The international performance should still be read within the full revenue mix. ₹52 crore is substantial, but India remains responsible for more than four-fifths of the worldwide gross.

Why the Streaming-to-Theatre Shift Matters for Mirzapur

Mirzapur: The Movie represents a rare large-scale move from an established Indian streaming series into a theatrical feature film. The original Mirzapur franchise built its audience through three streaming seasons before its characters were moved to cinemas for the September 2026 film. The official release announcement described the movie as the franchise's first move to the big screen.

That origin changes how the ₹308.84 crore result should be understood.

Most theatrical franchises build recognition through earlier cinema releases. Mirzapur arrived with years of character development and audience familiarity already created through streaming. Kaleen Bhaiya, Guddu Pandit, Munna Tripathi and the wider Mirzapur world did not need to be introduced to existing fans from the beginning.

The cinema release then asked a different commercial question. Would viewers who had watched Mirzapur through a subscription service pay separately for tickets to see the same story world in theatres?

The box-office total shows that a sizable audience did.

That does not establish a universal formula for converting streaming programmes into theatrical films. Mirzapur entered cinemas with unusually recognisable characters, several seasons of audience exposure and a crime story built around conflict that could be expanded for a feature format.

The result is therefore best treated as a major case within the Indian streaming-to-cinema model, not proof that every successful streaming property will produce similar theatrical revenue.

Familiar Characters Gave the Movie an Existing Audience Base

Mirzapur: The Movie retained much of the franchise identity through its established characters and cast. Pankaj Tripathi returned as Kaleen Bhaiya, Ali Fazal as Guddu Pandit and Divyenndu as Munna Tripathi. The larger cast includes Jitendra Kumar, Ravi Kishan, Abhishek Banerjee, Rasika Dugal, Shweta Tripathi, Shriya Pilgaonkar, Sheeba Chadha and Rajesh Tailang.

The film also retained creative continuity behind the camera. Gurmmeet Singh directed the feature and Puneet Krishna wrote it. Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar produced the film, while Kassim Jagmagia and Vishal Ramchandani served as co-producers.

Creative continuity matters because an adaptation of an established series has two competing requirements. It must remain recognisable to existing viewers while offering enough scale and new material to justify a theatrical release.

The marketing positioned the film as an untold chapter within the Mirzapur story and centred the conflict around control of Mirzapur. The official theatrical campaign also promoted both Hindi and Telugu versions, expanding the potential audience beyond the franchise's primary Hindi-language base.

Reported collection data, however, shows that Hindi generated nearly all domestic net revenue. The Hindi version had contributed approximately ₹214.65 crore net by Day 17, while the Telugu version stood at roughly ₹1.05 crore net.

The Telugu version therefore expanded availability, but the film's theatrical economics remain overwhelmingly Hindi-led.

Mirzapur Joins the ₹300 Crore Hindi Film Group of 2026

Mirzapur: The Movie became the fourth Hindi film released in 2026 to cross ₹300 crore worldwide, based on the current totals reported for Dhurandhar: The Revenge, Border 2 and Hanuman Ansh.

Some early Day 17 coverage described Mirzapur as the third Hindi film of the year above ₹300 crore. The difference appears to come from varying classification or timing across box-office reports. The broader current data supports four Hindi releases above the threshold.

The distinction matters because annual box-office rankings change as films continue their theatrical runs. Hanuman Ansh, for example, had reached approximately ₹309.15 crore worldwide by September 18 after a much longer run, placing it above the ₹300 crore line before Mirzapur completed its third weekend.

Mirzapur reached the milestone much faster, doing so within 17 days.

Speed and lifetime gross measure different parts of a theatrical run. A film can cross ₹300 crore quickly but finish with a lower lifetime total than another title that builds revenue over many weeks. Mirzapur's final 2026 ranking therefore cannot be fixed while its theatrical run remains active.

The ₹200 Crore India Net Milestone Is Separate From the Worldwide Record

Mirzapur: The Movie had already passed ₹200 crore net in India before reaching ₹300 crore worldwide. Reported second-week data put the film above ₹203 crore India net by September 17.

By Day 17, that total had increased to ₹215.70 crore.

This domestic milestone provides a clearer measure of ticket revenue inside India than the worldwide gross figure. It also shows that the majority of the film's commercial performance does not depend on international markets.

The distinction between India net and worldwide gross is especially useful when assessing headlines built around large box-office numbers.

For Mirzapur

India net measures domestic ticket sales after applicable taxes.

India gross includes those taxes and stands at ₹256.84 crore.

Overseas gross measures international theatrical revenue and stands at ₹52 crore.

Worldwide gross combines India gross and overseas gross, producing ₹308.84 crore.

A reader comparing Mirzapur with another film should first identify which of these metrics is being used. A ₹300 crore worldwide gross and a ₹300 crore India net total describe very different commercial outcomes.

The Third Weekend Shows Mirzapur Still Has Theatrical Demand

Mirzapur's third weekend produced a clear Friday-to-Sunday increase. The film earned ₹2.75 crore net on Friday, ₹4.50 crore on Saturday and ₹5 crore on Sunday.

Sunday was approximately 82 percent higher than Friday, while Saturday was about 64 percent higher than Friday. The pattern shows that weekend audiences were still increasing the film's daily business after more than two weeks in cinemas.

The scale has naturally fallen from the opening weekend. Mirzapur's first three days produced roughly ₹93.75 crore net domestically, while its third weekend delivered ₹12.25 crore.

The decline is substantial, but that comparison also shows how much revenue was secured early in the release.

The first week generated ₹148.45 crore net, which accounts for almost 69 percent of the Day 17 India net total. Week two contributed ₹55 crore, or roughly one-quarter of the current India net total. The third weekend supplied the remaining ₹12.25 crore.

The film therefore followed a heavily front-loaded franchise release pattern while continuing to generate enough later business to reach additional milestones.

Occupancy Data Shows Stronger Afternoon and Evening Demand on Day 17

Day 17 Hindi 2D occupancy averaged 32.80 percent, but audience turnout changed significantly across the day. Morning occupancy stood at 13.08 percent, afternoon shows increased to 40.31 percent, evening shows reached 43.62 percent and night shows finished at 28.31 percent.

The shift indicates that Sunday demand was concentrated in afternoon and evening screenings.

Occupancy should not be treated as a direct substitute for revenue. Ticket price, theatre capacity, city mix, number of shows and premium-format availability all affect collections.

Show volume also matters. The film had 4,402 shows included in the Day 17 collection estimate. A moderate national occupancy level across thousands of screenings can generate more money than a very high occupancy percentage across a small number of shows.

For Mirzapur, the combined reading of ₹5 crore Day 17 net revenue, 4,402 reported shows and stronger afternoon and evening occupancy gives a more complete picture than any single metric.

What the ₹308.84 Crore Total Does and Does Not Tell Us

The ₹308.84 crore worldwide gross establishes that Mirzapur: The Movie has become a major theatrical release, but gross revenue alone does not reveal the film's final profitability.

A full profitability analysis would require verified information about production cost, marketing expenditure, theatrical distribution arrangements, exhibitor revenue sharing, non-theatrical rights and other commercial agreements. Reliable figures covering all of those areas were not available across the supplied research set.

Worldwide gross therefore should not automatically be treated as producer revenue or profit.

The current total also remains a running figure. Mirzapur was still playing in cinemas when the Day 17 numbers were reported. Future weekday holds, competition from new releases, screen retention and another weekend of ticket sales will determine how far the lifetime gross moves beyond ₹308.84 crore.

The Day 17 result answers one question clearly. Mirzapur has already moved well beyond being a streaming-only success story. The franchise has demonstrated that its audience can support a theatrical film at a scale above ₹300 crore worldwide.

What remains unknown is the final size of that theatrical run.

Mirzapur's Next Box Office Phase Begins After ₹300 Crore

Mirzapur: The Movie enters its post-₹300 crore phase with ₹215.70 crore India net and ₹308.84 crore worldwide gross already recorded. The next part of the run will depend more on weekday stability and screen retention than on the opening power that drove its first week.

The third weekend offers a positive short-term signal because collections increased from ₹2.75 crore on Friday to ₹5 crore on Sunday. The total still needs to be monitored through the following weekdays before any longer-range lifetime projection can be treated seriously.

The existing result is already notable for another reason. Mirzapur did not begin as a theatrical property. It entered cinemas after three seasons had established its crime world through streaming, then generated more than ₹250 crore gross inside India and another ₹52 crore overseas within 17 days.

That combination makes Mirzapur: The Movie one of the clearest Indian examples so far of an established streaming franchise producing major ticket-window business.

Its final worldwide number remains open. Its ₹300 crore milestone does not.

Conclusion

Mirzapur: The Movie crossing ₹300 crore worldwide in just 17 days confirms that the franchise has successfully moved from streaming popularity to major theatrical business. With ₹215. 70 crore India net, ₹256.

84 crore India gross, ₹52 crore overseas, and ₹308. 84 crore worldwide, the film has become one of the biggest Hindi releases of 2026 so far. Its strong opening, ₹200 crore-plus domestic run, and continued third-weekend demand show the commercial strength of the Mirzapur characters and audience base. The theatrical run is still active, so the final lifetime worldwide gross could move higher as the film continues its cinema run.
