Allu Arjun and Atlee’s Raaka has secured a Guinness World Records title for the Most People Motion-Captured in Real-Time, with 37 performers recorded simultaneously during a single motion-capture session. The achievement gives the Sun Pictures production a major technical milestone well before its theatrical release.
Guinness World Records officially lists the record at 37 people, achieved in Mumbai, Maharashtra, on September 15, 2026. The record listing credits Sun TV Network Limited and director V. Arunkumar, professionally known as Atlee, for the film starring Allu Arjun. Allu Arjun and Atlee were subsequently presented with the Guinness World Records certificate as the production team announced the achievement.
How Raaka Set the Motion-Capture Record
The record-setting sequence required all 37 performers to be tracked at the same time within a single motion-capture volume. The group reportedly ranged in age from a four-year-old child to a 70-year-old performer, adding another layer of complexity to maintaining accurate movement data across every participant.
The production used 92 optical motion-capture cameras and a specially developed pipeline designed for the sequence. The technical setup incorporated calibration and synchronisation systems, networking, facial capture, witness cameras and real-time visualisation through Unreal Engine.
Motion capture records an actor’s physical movements and converts them into digital performance data that can be applied to computer-generated characters or environments. Handling 37 performers at once required the system to identify and preserve each individual performance without losing tracking accuracy as multiple people moved within the same space.
Sun Pictures also released behind-the-scenes footage showing the performers working inside the motion-capture setup, explaining the previously teased number 37 in the film’s promotional campaign.
Allu Arjun and Atlee Mark Their First Film Together
Raaka marks the first collaboration between Allu Arjun and Atlee. The project is produced by Sun Pictures, with Deepika Padukone also featuring in the film.
The Guinness recognition comes while the makers are gradually revealing the production methods being used for Raaka rather than disclosing major story details. The record specifically concerns the simultaneous real-time motion-capture process and does not relate to the film’s box office, budget or eventual theatrical performance.
For Raaka, the immediate distinction is now official: a production built around the first Allu Arjun-Atlee pairing has a Guinness World Records title attached to its filmmaking process before the movie reaches cinemas.
