Dhanush and filmmaker Tamizharasan Pachamuthu are moving ahead with plans for a rural commercial entertainer, while Sithara Entertainments is in discussions to join the project. Reports that the production deal has already been formally signed remain unconfirmed, with the team yet to announce the production arrangement.
The project could reunite Dhanush with Sithara Entertainments after their collaboration on Sir, the Telugu version of the Tamil-Telugu bilingual Vaathi. Venky Atluri directed the 2023 film, while Sithara Entertainments and Fortune Four Cinemas produced it.
Tamizharasan Pachamuthu to direct Dhanush
Tamizharasan Pachamuthu's film with Dhanush has been in development for some time. The filmmaker, known for Lubber Pandhu, has described the project as a mass commercial film with a rural setting.
Current plans include a significant portion of filming in and around Madurai. The team has not yet disclosed the full shooting plan or other locations.
Sithara Entertainments' possible involvement is the latest development surrounding the film. Reports also indicate that Dhanush could join the project as a co-producer, although the team has not confirmed the production credits.
The latest update points to a 2027 start for filming. Earlier reports suggested that production could begin sooner and also referred to a major Madurai schedule, so the final shooting timeline remains open until the team announces its plans.
The makers have also kept the official title, complete cast and language format under wraps. The title Padaiyal recently circulated in reports, but Tamizharasan responded humorously to the speculation without confirming it.
Dhanush and Tamizharasan Pachamuthu remain attached to the project, while details about Sithara Entertainments' role, Dhanush's possible co-production involvement and the 2027 filming plan await an official announcement.
