Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu offered Pattu Vastralu, or silk robes, to Lord Venkateswara at the Tirumala temple on Tuesday evening as part of the opening-day rituals of the Srivari Salakatla Brahmotsavams. He made the traditional offering on behalf of the Andhra Pradesh government.
Naidu attended the ceremony with his wife Nara Bhuvaneswari and family members, including Minister Nara Lokesh and Nara Brahmani. Wearing traditional attire, he first visited the Bedi Anjaneya Swamy temple before carrying the silk robes on his head in a ceremonial procession to the main temple and presenting them to Lord Venkateswara.
Brahmotsavams begin with Dwajarohanam
The nine-day annual Brahmotsavams formally began with Dwajarohanam, during which priests hoisted the Garuda flag on the golden Dwajasthambham between 6.21 pm and 6.35 pm in Meena Lagnam. The 2026 Salakatla Brahmotsavams are scheduled from September 15 to September 23.
After the silk-robes offering and darshan, Naidu prayed for the welfare and prosperity of the people of Andhra Pradesh. He also asked Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams officials to ensure that devotees visiting Tirumala face no inconvenience and spoke about preserving the temple's traditions.
Later, the Chief Minister and his family attended the Pedda Sesha Vahana Seva along the Four Mada Streets. Lord Malayappa Swamy, accompanied by Sridevi and Bhudevi, was taken in procession on the Pedda Sesha Vahanam as part of the first day's Brahmotsavam programme. Naidu also released TTD's 2027 calendars and diaries during his Tirumala visit.
